Residing in the constellation Canis Major is the emission nebula RCW14. The nebula is a portion of a larger nebula known as Brand16. Both RCW14 and Brand16 are part of a huge supershell known as GS234-02 which spans hundreds of light years. Below the center of the image is the open cluster NGC2367. Having existed for around 5 million years, most of its stars are young and shine with an intense blue light. The cluster and surrounding blue stars provide for a colourful scene contrasting against the vibrant red hydrogen gas. RCW14 is approximately 6,500 light years away.
